Dear families,

We are happy to share that we just received our re-accreditation in Poland.  We have a new coordinator, Marta, who is very experienced and understands adoption issues and in country regulations very well.  We are very excited to be able to work in Poland.  We traveled there in March and met with the Catholic Center orphanage and other organizations.  Despite that two adoption centers closed, Catholic Center is very active and working hard.  We spent hours talking to our coordinator, translators, etc., and feel that the Poland program could be a great opportunity for children and families.

Here is a brief description about ages and circumstances:

  • Available children under age 6 typically have some needs such as: down syndrome, cleft palate, club feet, heart conditions, diabetes, Tourette’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, or developmental delays.
  • Waiting time varies up to 2 years depending on the child’s needs.
  • Sibling groups of 3 and more are the youngest and healthiest.  Ages could range from 2-7 years old and waiting time could be up to 1 year.
  • Sibling groups of 2 could range in age from 4-8 years old and the waiting time could be up to 1-2 years.
  • A single child could be aged 7-9 years old and the waiting time could be 6 months – 1 year.
  • Many older children are waiting.

Poland requires either 1 trip for 1 ½ months (both parents must stay 2-3 weeks) or 2 trips (1st trip is 3-4 days, 2nd trip is 6 weeks, both parents stay up to 2 weeks).  The reason for having the first trip is for the prospective adoptive parents to personally meet and see the children.

It is a beautiful county to visit and parents will travel to the area where children are currently living first and then the second part of the trip will be spent in Warsaw.  The country is safe, not expensive, with good accommodations.  It is very beautiful and has so much history.  Our new coordinator, Marta, and the rest of the team are very personable and work very hard to accommodate families.

Please call or email with questions.  I am always happy to schedule time and answer questions.

Sincerely,

Inna
