Our International Adoption Programs
Through our international adoption program, KidsFirst advocates for older children, sibling groups, and children with special needs who are waiting for stable, loving families. These children are located outside the United States and are adopted through the international adoption process with a Hague-accredited agency.
We are very intentional in our work with children and families. If it is too much for the family, the child will not benefit from that placement. This is the reason we want to understand your limitations, taking into consideration the personalities and ages of other children at home and your life commitments and expectations.

Adoption from Bulgaria
- Children range in age from 2 to 15 years old.
- Couples and single women
- Must be at least 25 years old
- Cannot be more than 50 years older than the child
Adoption from the Dominican Republic
- Married couples only
- Must be married at least 5 years
- Must be at least 30 years old, and no more than 50 years older than the child
Adoption from Poland
- Couples and single women
- Couples must be married for at least 3 years
- Must be at least 25 years old, and no more than 40 years older than the child
- At least one parent must be a US citizen
Adoption from Ukraine
Adoptions from Ukraine are currently on hold because of uncertainty related to the war with Russia.
- Children from Ukraine are typically 5 years of age or older
- Couples
- Must be at least 25 years old, and no more than 50 years older than the child

KidsFirst is the only Indiana-based Hague-accredited adoption agency, ensuring that our international adoption programs meet the highest ethical and professional standards. We currently work with families pursuing international adoption in Bulgaria, the Dominican Republic, Poland, and Ukraine, helping guide them through each country’s specific requirements and process.
The Hague Convention has been ratified by more than 75 countries and was created as a way to establish protections for children, birth parents, and adoptive parents. Our commitment ot ethical adoption practices means we only work in countries which have a clear process for declaring children in need of an adoptive family.
