Waiting Child
Thank you for visiting the Kids First International waiting child page! While we are committed to advocate for children who need love and stability from a family, we are equally committed to guide families to ensure that every match with a child meets the characteristics of each family. These characteristics include your age, lifestyle, the ages, personalities, and needs of the children you are already parenting, what you can and cannot handle, etc. Here at Kids First International, we believe in education, honesty regarding what we can and cannot do, and continuous connections with the families we work with.
Before you start looking at pages, pictures, and descriptions of waiting children, we want you to know that:
- We put time and effort to ensure it is the right match for both the family and the child
- We want to learn more about your family so we can provide our expertise to you
- We work continuously with our coordinators overseas to do the best job we can to create matches
- There are more waiting children than we can possibly put on our website
- We are very intentional in the work we do if you choose to work with us
We also want you to know:
- It is extremely important you consult independent adoption medicine physicians
If you want to schedule a meeting to learn more, below is a link to schedule time for any questions you may have.
We are committed to sharing our knowledge, and we want success for every family we work with. We want the right family for every child we advocate for. Our belief is that children benefit most when their parents are aware, prepared, and open-minded.
Our waiting child list is mostly a list of children who are waiting for a family through the international adoption process. We will always specify if we are advocating for children in the United States or internationally, but the majority of children we advocate for are living in orphanages overseas.
Most waiting children through the international adoption route are:
- Children who are older
- Multiple sibling groups
- Children with certain special needs such as down syndrome, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, delays due to early neglect and life in an institution, etc.
